Dates are a sunnah food for breaking the fast, highly recommended by Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam. By eating them, energy can be restored quickly because of their content, which is natural sugar; fiber; and, high in nutrients.
Breaking the fast with dates is not only a sunnah or tradition, but also part of a health practice, in addition to having its own history in Islam. According to the sunnah of the Prophet Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam, eating an odd number of dates and plain water is the best way to break the fast. It helps refresh the tired body after a day of fasting.
Along with current developments, dates are also used as a basic ingredient in dishes. These include processing dates into various recipes such as 'cucur kurma' or date fritters; date cake and date milk.
